We're Moving into the Future at the Gaslight!

After a hugely successful season in 2023, we feel 2024 will bring you MORE with three classic plays by three highly experienced and talented directors.

Our greatest concern is our "Elderly Elevator". The "Old Girl" needs updated computer boards and parts - costing $65,000-$70,000 according to TK-Elevator who installed the elevator in 1993. Our special-needs patrons need assurance they can come to our beautifully historic two-story Opera House. We are so blessed and grateful to have your support as we continue to bring fine theater to everyone.

NEXT YEAR IN SEASON 2025, the Gaslight will be offering Online Ticket Orders and reservations!

We are currently implementing and training our volunteers on the program so we can fine tune and make it as user friendly as possible. But "Fear Not", we will still offer our current system in the future also. We will keep you informed on progress during this 2024 season.

Most Sincerely,

Josh Kaspar

Chairman of the Board

The summer play at the Gaslight Theatre is "In Praise of Miss Brown" by Pat Cook, an ingenious play about a high school teacher, Constance Brown, and her students in a small town in the early 1960s. The director is Bill Matthys.

High school students, grab this opportunity to be on stage as there are roles for three males and two females, all within the ages of 14-19! Auditions for the student roles will be Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the theater located at 207 East 7th Street in Shiner. There will be two rehearsals per week beginning the week of May 26 and continuing through July 17.

Performances are July 19, 20, 21, 24, 26, 27, 28 and August 2, 3, 4. Questions about the play may be directed to the director, Bill Matthys at billandpam.matthys@gmail.com

The Shiner Gaslight Theatre is a non-profit community dinner theatre which seats 132 and provides contemporary and classic theatre. Except as noted, plays are appropriate for adults and older children. The Theatre is staffed completely by volunteers.
